11am 1st July ‘International Tartan Day’
The Waipu Tartan Pipe Band parade from 11am from the Police Station. Young & old welcome to don their tartan & join in the Parade, prize for best dressed in Tartan.
Waipu Croquet Club host their Annual Tournament at their grounds next to the Bowling Green from 10am. Players from Northland clubs don some tartan, are piped onto the greens and hosted in true Scottish style. Prizes for play and for ‘dress’. Spectators welcome.
6pm Tue 1st July ‘Waipu Social at the Razza’
Waipu Business and Promotions Group meeting 5.30pm -6.00pm followed by social event come & mingle with the locals. Home cooked food with a tartan flair, raffle, pool, etc. All Welcome!
5.30pm Fri 4th July ‘Social at Sumpter Baughen Waipu Office’
Pop along to their Waipu office to meet the team between 5.30pm-7pm Wear your tartan for this social event. Refreshments & Nibbles, prizes.

At Waipu Cove Life Saving Club, Judging around 12.30pm after the MidWinter Swim. Create a tartan themed Taniwha. Can be made from recycled, found, household, farm or any other items. Your creation can be made prior to the day & brought down for judging or made on the day. Ideas such as Loch Ness Monster, highland mythical creature, sand dune banshee, scarecrow etc…
Prizes for best family/group creation, adult & kids creation.
