This year we are extremely lucky to have as our major sponsor the Waterline Restaurant, Marsden Cove. Dave & Hope Baker of the Waterline who have sponsored a $3000 travel voucher for a lucky ticket winner.
Tickets are $50 (early bird) up to the 22 March, from the 22 March up to and including the competition tickets are $60. The entrant’s ticket includes a meal on the Saturday.
In addition to the major prize, there is a Mystery Fish Weight prize, a weekend at the Copthorne, Omapere and also very many spot prizes that have been generously donated by the many local sponsors

A new adventure for Wally and Shirley Browning – SPOT ON. Taken from the Bream Bay News – get the news online as well as in your letterbox
Wally Browning, with his bushy eyebrows looks every bit the old sea captain. It’s as if after years in different occupations he has finally found his calling. He started his working life in the car painting business in Dargaville and then purchased several holiday parks – first at Oakura and then another in Takapuna. Of late he and wife Shirley have been living in Orewa but you get the impression Wally isn’t one to let the grass grow under his feet. “We had a bach at Tinopai and Wally had a smaller boat there” explains Shirley. This gave him the idea of setting up a fishing charter business at Marsden Cove. They had a new home built alongside their marina berth where they can watch boats coming and going and Wally commissioned his dream fishing charter boat, which he named – “Spot On.”
Spot On was built and designed by Greg Shine of Blade Runner Boats in Kumeu. She is licensed to carry up to 16 game fishers further offshore. She is a 12 metre long catamaran, built in marine grade alloy with a roomy cockpit and plenty of deck space for fishing parties. In ideal conditions she will cruise at between 26 and 30 knots
To help launch his new business Wally is offering what he calls “a rep deal”. If you can find ten people to make up a fishing party on the boat, you get to come along for free.

Marsden Cove Community Market
The Ruakaka Community Market moved last year to the Marquee at Marsden Cove, and this year has adopted a new name – the Marsden Cove Community Market. The marquee provides an all weather venue which is a great thing in our changable Northland Weather.

Team Oracle to be based at Marsden Cove
It is old news now I guess, but I thought some of you would be interested in this link for more information about Team Oracle being based at Northport and Marsden Cove for training next year.
I went to a meeting at Waterline Cafe in which the visit was explained. I think it is going to be fantastic for the area.

Ruakaka Community Market – now at Marsden Cove
A new venue in the marquee at Marsden Cove means that this market will be great whatever the weather might bring!
First market of the season will be 16 October 2011 9-12 Bring the family, there will be fun for everyone – pony rides, lucky door prize, great coffee, arts and crafts, live demonstrations, specialty foods, awesome music, local produce and fresh flowers. Look for the market on the 3rd Sunday of the month at Marsden Cove.

Business and Ratepayer Groups in Bream Bay
There are lots of ways to get involved in the communities of Bream Bay, one of them is to get involved in local business and community groups.
I belong to the Waipu Business and Promotions Group and the Waipu Residents and Ratepayers, and have just become a part of a new group – Bream Bay Business Network which meets on the 2nd Wednesday of the Month at 7am at Waterline Cafe in Marsden Cove. Great breakfast and networking. Come along some time!

Marsden Cove Fishing Club:
Proudly promotes itself as a family fishing club with the objective to foster further fishing and aquatic activities for members and families while encouraging members to practice sound conservation to sustainability of our marine resources. WEBSITE
They now have a club room, next door to the Waterline Restaurant, Marsden Cove.
The club rooms are open 4pm on Friday & Saturday.
