Waipu is just 2 hours north of the Auckland International Airport. For many people in the western world – that is commuting distance. Also many international flights arrive early in the morning, so it’s not surprising that many people end up here in Waipu and Bream Bay on their first night in NZ.
We are half way to the Bay of Islands, they are probably ready to fall asleep at the wheel and the beaches, well they are fantastic. They are usually more than ready to stop and stay a while. Read more

One fabulous new place is Tipu Waterfront Accommodation on the Waipu Estuary, Darrell and Grant’s home is magnificent and a very special place to stay. Gay friendly, with dogs on site – they offer a warm welcome to travellers to the area.

The small Northland village of Waipu is known for many things, and those of you who keep your eyes open may have seen Alpacas in some of the paddocks.
I have just found out about Kandiah Alpacas who breed them, and also have a farmstay where you can stay and enjoy the Alpacas inquistive nature, and a touch of Bream Bay Country life.

Langs Beach Lodge has been developed by the former owners of the successful Naja Garden Centre in Mangawhai Natalie and Jac Spyksmas.  They are offering their lovely home as an accommodation base for 2-3 day short break walking adventures. Natalie and Jac are both keen walkers themselves, they appreciate and enjoy the sense of camaraderie and wellbeing that having an adventure like this creates.
