Just to confirm that the Old Library Building has been booked from 12th June-4th July for our season of Robert Lord’s classic New Zealand play Joyful and Triumphant. Which does not necessarily mean that those wll be the performance dates. But it will be a three-week season within those dates and subject to confirmation.Auditions are likely to be held at the Old Library early March and we will be looking for 5 women and 2 men. We are delighted that Kelly Johnson will again be directing.

Waipu’s (in)famous Music Hall
The famously acclaimed music hall under the chairmanship of Mr James Edge begins tomorrow night.
The 5 performances have sold out, so only those lucky enough to have tickets will be enthralled by the 50 local stars who will dazzle and astound you with surprisingly unforgettable acts. Waipu has Alpacas
The small Northland village of Waipu is known for many things, and those of you who keep your eyes open may have seen Alpacas in some of the paddocks.
I have just found out about Kandiah Alpacas who breed them, and also have a farmstay where you can stay and enjoy the Alpacas inquistive nature, and a touch of Bream Bay Country life.
Movember Whisky and Whiskers Night raises just under $1000.00
Four whiskeys were tasted and to confirm what everyone knows in Waipu, the winner was to no one’s surprise the grand master on whisky himself – Fraser Simm.
The following were then shaved – Greg, Trevor, Bert, Terry, Dave, with Dick Scotland raising the most money with the determined steely help of Racheal from Pernod Ricard.
Length of time people had had their beards varied from 2 – 35 years.

Prizes included the exquisite wood turned quake tasting bowls
made by Allan McKenzie and Coke packs.

- we also hire out DVDs.
Many locals and boaties have already become regular customers as have some local refinery workers… worth a look.
Langs Beach Lodge – walking adventures
Bream Bay has a new tourist accommodation which focuses on walkers …
Langs Beach Lodge has been developed by the former owners of the successful Naja Garden Centre in Mangawhai Natalie and Jac Spyksmas.  They are offering their lovely home as an accommodation base for 2-3 day short break walking adventures. Natalie and Jac are both keen walkers themselves, they appreciate and enjoy the sense of camaraderie and wellbeing that having an adventure like this creates. Rachel and her husband live in Minneap0lis and “We are moving to New Zealand for a year to become hikers and celebrate the married/no kids years.”
I met them walking along Uretiti Beach near Waipu in Northland,¬† with packs – they are have come from Cape Reinga on Te Ara Roa - The Long Pathway which is a walk the length of¬† New Zealand.
