The Artisans Fair in Whangarei has moved to the fabulous new canopied Victoria Bridge by the Town Basin and will be on every Saturday from 10-3pm from October to April and all weekend in the summer holidays.
Along with the well established Saturday Farmers Market, this gives a great excuse for a weekend visit to Whangarei.
Walk down past Reyburn House in the Town Basin and enjoy the amazing new sculpture trail.

Plant 2000 Trees at Uretiti
9am 30 July at Uretiti Campground Entrance
Sausage sizzle and morning tea provided!
The Bream Bay Coastal Care Trust invites you to come along with spades and help plant the first 2000 trees as part of the Living Legends native tree planting.
The Trust was concerned that it would be difficult to keep 5000 trees alive over a dry summer if all the trees were planted iin September to coincide with the Rugby World Cup, so has offered to plant 2000 trees in July. The Tindall Foundation is sponsoring 17 projects throughout NZ planting 10,000 trees at each site. 5,000 at Uretiti this year, and 5,000 over the next five years.
A highly publicised planting day will be held during the Rugby World Cup on 18 September with people throughout the Whangarei District and perhaps some local rugby legends helping to get the trees in the ground.
Waipu Map has been reprinted at last…
The Waipu Business and Promotions Group is pleased to announce that a new printing of the Waipu tear-off street maps have arrived. This is the third printing of the map which has proved a great resource for visitors and for promoting the village. Thanks to Rosie Prickett who did all the leg work of chasing new and old businesses and even rang everyone from the proof to check the phone numbers were right! Thanks to Maggie Wistrand who has offered to deliver them to the main street businesses.
Many businesses ran out of the last printing – and it was clear how important the map was for Waipu. Rosemary Neave who was behind the initial idea says :
“Its just such a relief when someone asks how to find their way to the beach or Waipu Caves, just to be able to tear off the page and give it to them. When I was selling real estate it was fantastic. When I ran a B&B it saved having to draw maps on the back of envelopes all the time”
If your business advertised on the Map – drop in and pick up some books from Waipu Real Estate or Waipu Museum to give to your customers. If you have visitors who could benefit from the map – tear off a few sheets to take home.

Waipu Tear off Map to be reprinted
The Waipu Maps that sit around in shops and B&Bs have proved very popular for locals and visitors alike.
It has been a great way to share in one place what Waipu has on offer in the Village, where the walks are, how to find accommodation and the way to the beach.
The second printing of these maps has run out and the Waipu Business and Promotions Group is about to start working on the new one. The last printing lasted 3 years, and it is hoped this printing will last a similar time. The price to list is $50 for paid up members of the Waipu Business and Promotions Group and $70 for those who are not members – though you can join on the spot and save $5 and support the local business association
Rosie Prickett has once again agreed to ring around and visit people to confirm the content and to take bookings to list on the map, if you are not listed on the map and want to be contact Rosie on 09 432 0057 rosie.prickett@xtra.co.nz
