St John in Bream Bay
Bream Bay St John – why not join us?
We are constantly in need of Operational Volunteers to ensure the ambulance can be crewed 24/7. The role of an Operational Volunteer is not only to administer medical care to patients; it includes attending sports meetings, special events, races, fishing competitions and more.
Volunteers help with AdministrationWhile volunteers assist with operational roles, we also need volunteers to help manage the administration of the station on Tamingi Street in Ruakaka, which involves monthly meetings and the occasional fundraising event. |

Training for VolunteersAs most Operational Volunteers have full or part-time work, initial training (including driving) is provided in shortened 1-2day courses usually in Whangarei, along with fortnightly sessions at the ambulance station. Training is also on-going on the road where officers start as an Observer, or third officer, for as long as it takes for them to progress to second officer status. Training and regular crewing on the ambulance eventually leads to completing an NZQA recognised National Diploma in Ambulance Practice. |

Teamwork and FunAt Bream Bay we also have a very active Social Club and focus on teamwork in an enjoyable way as well as in a professional manner. We challenge other ambulance stations and health care workers to games evenings and sporting events; we go on bus trips and have fun times at the station itself.
