Marsden Cove Fishing Club
The Marsden Cove Fishing Club was formed in June 2009, essentially to encourage all to have a go at fishing in a sustainable way, that is catch a feed for the family.
From the beginning the club enjoyed a mix of men, women and children and proudly promotes itself as a family fishing club with the objective to foster further fishing and aquatic activities for members and families while encouraging members to practice sound conservation to sustainability of our marine resources.
Increased membership and homeless we needed a base and by default The Waterline Café, Marsden Cove Marina became our Friday night venue and the birth of the clubs “Fishy Fridays’.
The club runs 3 events a year
- April: Chic’s @ The Chicks Main Sponsor Allens Reality
- June: Blokes @ The Mokes
- October: The Annual Open Competition

Fishing and in particular fishing competitions are dominated by men so the club decided to run a premium event solely for the ladies.
Our first event (2009) was well attended with 125 ladies fishing over the 2 days. No doubt Allens Reality‘s major prize of a weekend shopping trip for two plus spending money to Australia may have been the reason many ladies were drawn to the event!
We encourage all ladies who have never fished to give it a go, gather a few friends together, form a team (prize for the best dressed team) find a boatman and expect to have lots of fun.
While there are trophies & prizes for the winning fish, the major prize of a shopping trip for two plus spending money in Melbourne will be won on the draw of a ticket. In addition to the major prize many local sponsors have generously donated both products and there is also weekend away for the ladies to win.
