Friday 1 July

6-10am Classic Hits Breakfast kicks of Tartan Week at the Ynot Restaurant in Artform.  Snow for the kids and breakfast available from 6am. Come and join the fun.

11am Waipu Pipe Band Parade with Waipu Primary School and street theatre

  • Some of our young Highland dances will perform Sean Truibhas – Shaking off the trousers and Donning the Tartan
  • some local lads will once again be shaking off their trousers and donning a wee bit of tartan to do a fling.  Mr Plod will be keeping a watchful eye.

Haggis Tasting for customers at the Waipu Butcher

11am  – Waipu Highland Pipe Band Parades in the Main street – and invites all of Waipu’s scottish descendents to join the march in their tartan.

7.30pm Annual Clan Dinner
at the The Clansman Restaurant  – all welcome Cost: $30 per head

The Waipu Caledonian Society and Clan MacLean Association are co-hosting the annual Clans Dinner where everyone is invited to attend and enjoy an important part of Tartan Week

10am The Kirkin’ o the Tartan Waipu Presbyterian Church invites all tartan wearers (and others!) to join this special service.

10am Waipu Highland Dancing Competition
In Coronation Hall – public welcome gold coin donation, kitchen open

1pm Tartan Golf join us for a social game followed by dinner at Waipu Golf Club 09 432 0259

Monday 4 July  7-10pm Tartan Week Ceilidh

The Waipu Scottish Country Dance Club invites you to an evening of Fun and Social dancing to celebrate the International Tartan Week. And being the 4th of July we will have some dances for our friends in the USA too. Easy dancing for all the Family, no partners needed and there’s  a live band!

7 July at 7pm in the Church hall

Primary School Speech Competition - always a fabulous night

$5 per person and bring along a plate for supper and lots of energy to Dance.

6.30 40vs 50 yrs - under 50s and over 50s.  Will the over 50s win again!!!

7.30 Men in Kilts Rugby Challenge

Post Match celebrations at the Waipu Rugby Club

This was an amazing night last year – the cold night did not dampen the enthusiasm of the players or the crowd.  Rug up and come and support Waipu.

Bring your pet along and march behind Waipu’s own Highland Pipe Band, Supported by Waipu Vet Club.  Prizes.  Gather outside the Waipu Pizza Barn

7pm  Waipu Clansman Tartan Week Evening

Jim Wallace and Sons live at The Waipu Clansman Restaurant for an evening of fine food, song and laughter with Jim Wallace and his Sons.  The evening will include a light meal, full bar facility.

$40.00 per person, includes dinner and entertainment.
Tickets limited to 40 persons, reservations essential.

  • Awards evening of light and sound, showcasing creative endeavour from around New Zealand.  Doors for the Awards Show open at 7.00pm. Cash bar available.  $30
