Clan Maclean Chief to visit Waipu
Sir Lachlan MacLean, 28th Chief of Clan Maclean will be in Waipu on Saturday 20 November to visit the Waipu Museum and have afternoon tea there and in the evening a dinner followed by a concert in the Coronation Hall for not just every MacLean/McLean in Waipu, but the whole village as well; thanks to Pipe Majors Bain McGregor and Fraser Sim for their help in putting the show on. It is also planned that he will attend the Waipu Kirk on Sunday 21 November before travelling back to Auckland.
It is the many volunteers who turn up to help run the Games that make the day so successful and it is these men and women that are the unsung heroes of the Waipu Games. If you would like to help on Games Day; please contact us. www.waipugames.co.nz

From all reports the Tartan Week went very well and was well supported – congratulations to all who helped put it together – get ready for 2011 and long may it be an annual event. Waipu can show you how to party.
The MasterCard Road Show, which is promoting the rugby union world cup event in 2011, happened on Sunday 11 July in the Caledonian Park as the finale to Tartan Week and a great time was had by all. We understand Pat Hellier was gentle with the wee AB fellows who are not used to throwing cabers around – but they all had fun.
“Hi Don and Pat – I just wanted to say another big thanks from myself and the rest of the team for not only your help on the day but also the assistance you gave me in the lead up to the event. From our perspective it was our best event to date in terms of the format, venue, event attendance and the great content that our videographer was able to film. You guys have a great setup in Waipu and some real character ….”
