Fiona to ride for NZ in Canada
Fiona Southern Training
Our very own local Waipu identity and masters cyclist Fiona Southorn has been selected to represent New Zealand in Canada but only has just under 5 weeks to raise the $7,500 needed for the trip and because of the late notification to all riders there is no time to apply for funding.
How can you help?
Local personal trainer and fitness instructor Sharon Carroll of Smartfitness is heading the team of fundraising, and has had a great response so far – but there is room for more.
Saturday 31st July “a whole lot a fun”
Four group fitness classes (see the timetable below) which should take us up to around lunch time and then in the evening a fantastic trivia night where there will be the opportunity to dress as your favourite sports person or team, play games and generally have a lot of fun!!!
Please get behind this if you can, get friends, family, workmates in fact anyone that wants to sweat a bit, become fitter, healthier and more knowledgeable all in one day! (no phone a friend allowed during the quiz or googling on cell phones……unless you are on my team of course)
Fitness Timetable 31 July
- 7.00am – 8.00am Spin Spectacular
- 8.30am – 9.30am – Pump it up
- 10am to 10.45am – Begin to Spin (great for beginners) 45 min ride
- 11am – 12.00 – Boxing Fitness and Fun
The cost is $10 per person per class with all money going directly to Fiona
Trivia Night
The cost is $25 per person with a maximum number of 6 per table at the Waipu RSA The doors will open at 7.00pm with the quiz starting at 7.30pm. There will also be games, great prizes and some auctions too, which I am just working on.

WOW! What a great response…….you guys are so amazing!
We have sold over half the Trivia tables and ¾ of the fitness classes not to mention the amazing prizes being donated for the Trivia Night.
These include:
2 x nights accommodation at Taipa Bay Resort
1 x ½ Private Plane Ride
1 x half day fishing charter
1 x Signed All Blacks Jersey
1 x Original Jo May Painting
