Evensong and More in the Waipu Anglican Church
Just when the Anglicans thought they had it all together, June & July are going to be quite different from the usual!
Winter Evensong at St Peters, Waipu
On June 13th 2pm in the afternoon, preparations will get under way at St Peter’s, Waipu for the 2nd Annual Traditional Choral Evensong.
Anyone is welcome to join in the choir for this ecumenical service. Our friends at Opera North will be helping us out again, too. Just come along at 2:00pm for rehearsal under the guidance of Lachie McLean, and the service itself will begin at 5:00pm.
Our new Bishop, the Right Revd Ross Bay, will be visiting some of the parishioners in the Waimate Archdeaconry area, along with the acting Archdeacon, the recently appointed Ven Richard Hancock (who thought he had retired to the Uretiti area!)
On June 20th the entire Bream Bay congregation will be bussed to Whakapirau for the official reopening of St Alban’s Church after eight years – a celebration we are pleased to join. However, it does mean there will be no Anglican service in the Bream Bay area on that day. Anyone wishing a ride to Whakapirau can be at St Paul’s, Ruakaka by 9:00am, or at St Peter’s, Waipu by 9:15am on the day.
On June 27th we will celebrate our Patronal Festival with a double ‘birthday party’ for the patron saints of our two churches, Saints Peter and Paul. Revd Denise Kelsall, our Local Shared Ministry Unit Enabler, will provide the sermon that day, and with any luck there will be a rather nice birthday cake to share after the service
July is shaping up to be busy and exciting, too – more on that later!
