Waipu has Alpacas
The small Northland village of Waipu is known for many things, and those of you who keep your eyes open may have seen Alpacas in some of the paddocks.
I have just found out about Kandiah Alpacas who breed them, and also have a farmstay where you can stay and enjoy the Alpacas inquistive nature, and a touch of Bream Bay Country life.
Kandiah Alpacas is owned by Pav and Mark Stacey. Their 38 acre farm is situated just 10 minutes from the wonderful small township of Waipu.
Alpacas became a passion for Pav after her first encounter with them at the Mystery Creek Field Days.  After 3 months of intensive research into these fabulous animals, Pav decided to join the growing New Zealand alpaca industry by purchasing some pregnant suri females.
Pav  had no doubt in her mind that she wanted to concentrate on breeding top quality suri alpaca. Suris represent a very small percentage of the world alpaca population and have fleece qualities that are so unique that clothing manufacturers cannot get enough of it.  Our breeding goals are to produce suri alpaca with exceptional lustre along with softness and density.
We always welcome visitors to our farm and hope you will take advantage of our farmstay so that you can really get to know all of our alpacas.
