Compliments are flowing in to the Waipu Museum Art ‘N Tartan organizing committee after the highly successful event.
Held in the brand new Celtic Barn, Director Helen Frances again produced an exciting and moving show.
With over 50 entries and a host of other performers, including the Hatea Kapahaka Group and Scottish pipers, the performance evoked stirring memories of our roots.
Even with the demands of a much bigger venue the show was sold out more than a week before Opening Night. The standard of entries was high and drew much praise from the three outside judges.
Three entries came up from Roxborough where the community has held its first show.
- The 2015 Supreme Winner was S’ioch’ana The Scottish Hill Trow by Annie Newall, Alice Grant, Maria Ferris and Jemma Ferris.
- People’s Choice was one by Aimee Tomes with her entry Liquid Courage made from 20,000 can tabs woven together.
- The winner of the Mask Section was Bridget Cullen with Scott The Tartan Rooster.
The entire list of winners may be seen on the Waipu Museum website.
